INTJ Relationships (With Each Myers Briggs Type)

Innovators, Thinkers, and Dreamers! In general, INTP individuals are considered intellectual thinkers. People with this personality type are introverted innovators who use their creativity, analytic thinking, and originality to go beyond what is expected of them. This is perhaps one of the most commonly asked questions woman may have when it comes to understanding not only their INTP personality but how it may influence their life. Intuitive thinking refers to this idea that a people who have this INTP personality have a unique ability to connect with others on an empathic level. Intuitive thinking often involves using logic and analytic thinking in order to make an informed decision. Not sure what this means? To be an intuitive thinker means that I as an individual am able to make the best, and most logical decision possible, without personal biases and emotions getting into the way.

Both can be induced to talk at length about favorite subjects. Neither can easily be induced to engage in social chit-chat which is boring to most NTs in the same way that talking about the Higgs boson is boring to most ESFJs. It is possible to tell the difference between the two types if one knows how to recognize which function dominates: Ti, the dominant function of INTPs, is mainly responsible for analysis. Thus, given several ideas, Ti will indicate which ideas are false, which are poorly defined, and which are most efficient or elegant.

As with all judging functions, the goal of Ti is to narrow down choices, preferably to one if it is allowed free reign, as quickly and efficiently but logically as possible.

Dating ENTP personalities is hardly a boring experience, and they make use of their enthusiasm and creativity by delighting and surprising their partners with new ideas and experiences. However, if their unwavering enthusiasm is met in kind, it can lead to a magnificent relationship characterized by its strength, depth, and spark.

All that exploratory curiosity and enthusiasm has a chance to be expressed in new ways when ENTPs and their partners come together, and they readily encourage their partners to try new things, to enjoy their intimacy without preconceived limitations. For people with the ENTP personality type, this phase of their relationships is a chance to improve and develop in areas that are outside the realm of academia, though they approach it in much the same way — as a physical and intellectual process of striving towards excellence, rather than a spiritual or emotional expression of affection.

If they are with a more sensitive partner, this can be an excellent way for them to find another quality that they can work on together, making this weakness yet another opportunity to be creative, challenge themselves, and to deepen the attractiveness that this sense of progression brings to their relationships.

ENTP Relationships

There are four basic temperaments that determine how you fundamentally process information, and how you make decisions based on that information: NTs will draw similar conclusions from the same set of circumstances and determine the course of action that makes the most practical sense. For example, you will not fight about whether or not he should have called you if he was going to be late because you felt so nervous and worried, then end up in an argument about the play-by-play of your nights.

An INTP with an I.Q. of is really smarter than an INTP with an I.Q. of , provided that both INTPs have the same levels of Introversion, Intuition, Thinking, and Perceiving rather than being borderline on one of the preferences.

Such compatibility can extend to both their communication and lifestyle preferences. Namely, they enjoy discussing ideas rather than mere concrete, everyday happenings. NPs enjoy bouncing from one idea to the next, making broad, even random, connections within a pool of disparate ideas. Especially when engaged with other NP types, this can occur at a dizzying speed, often leaving non-NP types feeling lost, bewildered, or exhausted.

For NPs, however, engaging with other NPs can be captivating, engendering a strong sense of intellectual kinship and mutual understanding. NPs are also similar in their desire to perceive new ideas from without via their Ne. Most NPs enjoy reading, which serves as one way they can engage in Ne dialogue in this case, with the writer. Hence, when two NPs are paired in a relationship, they typically enjoy discussing new ideas they gleaned from print or other media.

This can serve as a wonderful means of connecting with each other in the forum of ideas. This may be of particular concern for INTPs and INFPs, both of whom require a lot of motivation to leave their own inner sanctum in order to commune with others. In other words, there may be such a thing as too much typological similarity in a relationship.

ENTP Relationships

Most type practitioners avoid discussing the relationship between type and I. Unfortunately, the silence of the experts has led to rampant speculation instead of fact-based discussion. The internet is full of arrogant type bigots and people with crushed self esteem who either believe their type is particularly smart or particularly dumb.

Spot on. Maybe this is the reason I’ve been called magnetic, and the same reason those others hate me.

They may venture so deeply into thought as to seem detached, and often actually are oblivious to the world around them. Precise about their descriptions, INTPs will often correct others or be sorely tempted to if the shade of meaning is a bit off. While annoying to the less concise, this fine discrimination ability gives INTPs so inclined a natural advantage as, for example, grammarians and linguists. INTPs are relatively easy-going and amenable to almost anything until their principles are violated, about which they may become outspoken and inflexible.

They prefer to return, however, to a reserved albeit benign ambiance, not wishing to make spectacles of themselves. A major concern for INTPs is the haunting sense of impending failure.

Others might be more inclined to remove that innocence in favor of educating and improving. Here is how each personality type responds to innocence. They have a natural desire to protect things or people who appear rather innocent, and believe that such a thing should be cherished. For INFJs anything innocent naturally requires protecting and kindness, and they dislike when they witness it being taken advantage of.

INFJs believe in protecting and defending anyone or anything that appears weaker, or is clearly in need of help in some ways. ENFJ ENFJs can struggle when it comes to encountering innocence, since their instincts tell them to protect and defend anything good and pure.

Most of us have experienced some dysfunction in our family of origin. The reprint begins with: They feel like a fraud and are subject to depressions which they hide from those around them. The Rescuer finds those in needs, lets them move in or marries them or finds a job for them while supply other needs and is very understanding of the frequent betrayals. The rescuer has a deep seated self-hate that drives them to their role as a savior, because they know that anyone not already at the bottom of the barrel would have nothing to do with them.

They tend to feel inadequate in their giving and unable to accept help for their own needs. THE MASCOT — Often a younger child who uses humor or other distracting behavior, such as being exceptional clumsy or always in trouble, to take the focus of the family away from the problems of the family dysfunction. The child never becomes too attached to goal or a desire because they have learned to change their direction at any moment.

They float, knowing something is wrong but coping, often successfully, with one chaotic situation after another by surrendering their identity to the needs of the moment. This is the child who is most visible to the outside world and who may adopt alcoholism, drug addiction or other compulsive behavior early in defiance of the family system.

Drenth As discussed in our ENTP personality profile, ENTPs are among the most versatile, open, adaptable of all types, displaying a broad array of interests and activities. Because of their openness and versatility, they can find love and compatibility with a number of different personality types. In this post, we will explore numerous dimensions of ENTP relationships.

We will begin with an analysis of what ENTPs seek in relationships according to their functional stack. This will be followed by a discussion of their prospective compatibility with various personality types as well as a look at some of the common challenges of ENTP relationships. ENTPs dominant function is Extraverted Intuition Ne , which is the function primarily responsible for their adaptability, versatility, and ideational creativity.

So when we ask what ENTPs seek in a relationship, we are in many ways asking what Ne seeks in a relationship. As an extraverted function, Ne is concerned with a breadth of ideas and possibilities in the outside world. ENTPs love speculating and debating, dealing largely in hypotheticals. They enjoy bouncing from one topic to the next, as one idea quickly begets associations with another.

Most enjoy games, movies, the arts and culture, as well as various outdoor activities. Consequently, ENTPs also seek a partner who is flexible and willing to join them in a breadth of activities.

Shopping Habits survey, respondents. People with this personality type are always full of ideas, but they have few opportunities to explore their more romantic notions. As with any of their theories, INTPs love sharing with others, and in finally meeting someone where romantic thoughts are appropriate, they show themselves to be excited, enthusiastic, and even playful, flirting with word-play and intellectual games.

None of this is to say that these relationships come easily to INTPs — they are shy and withdrawn individuals, and getting out and meeting new people, risking rejection and making themselves the center of attention in emotionally delicate situations are far from being their strengths. It is more likely that INTP personalities will leave a trail of breadcrumbs for a potential partner, allowing them to make the first move and committing to their partner as an act of reciprocation rather than bravado.

Even early in the dating phase, INTPs are unusually direct and honest, doing their best to express their mindset and create mutual understanding, believing that this shared knowledge will help to minimize misunderstandings and avoid conflict. When these conflicts do arise and are inescapable, INTPs will do their best to find a logical solution.

INTPs should keep this in mind, and try to meet their partners halfway by communicating on an emotional level — if they make this effort, understanding partners will recognize and appreciate the gesture, clumsy though it may be. After all, they need to afford INTPs the same benefit, and meet them halfway with logic and simplicity as well. Beware the Barrenness of a Busy Life All this material asceticism and conflict avoidance support one primary goal — to free up mental resources for more important things.
